Save TN Water

More Work To Do

In August 2019, the Joint Government Operations Committee of the Tennessee General Assembly reviewed the proposed changes to the Aquatic Resource Alteration Permit (ARAP) and Water Quality Standards (WQS) rules.  The Committee initially disapproved the ARAP rules, which would have spelled trouble for approval of the WQS by the US EPA as is required.  The Committee subsequently reconsidered its disapproval of the ARAP rules and approved them.  We believe TDEC will submit the WQS rules as part of the required triennial review process.  We are evaluating next steps including potential comments to the US EPA.
