Harpeth Conservancy hosted its fourth Conservation Conversation, a monthly online educational series with experts answering your questions, on Wednesday, July, 22 2020. This month’s topic was Water Quality and Harmful Algal Blooms. A panel of experts including Ken Gibbons, Master of Ecology from the University of Toledo with a specialty on Harmful Algal Blooms in the Great Lakes, Dr. Judy Jackwood, Associate Veterinarian at Orrville Veterinary Clinic in Ohio, and Harpeth Conservancy’s Watershed Science and Restoration Director, Dr. Ryan Jackwood, discussed the effects of Harmful Algal Blooms on the environment and what they mean for us and our pets when we’re out enjoying our local waterways. We had over 35 people in attendance with an audience that spanned across the country from Texas to North Carolina and Ohio to name a few of the areas that were represented. This conversation was particularly notable in the ways it brought in discussion from individuals across the country to whom this topic is relevant.
